Pace alongside speed

Start tracking and you'll see your live pace in both min/km and min/mi beneath the speed display, derived directly from your GPS speed in real time. Trip distance and moving time (which excludes time stopped) are tracked below, the same as on every SpeedCheck page.

GPS pace tracking works best outdoors with a clear view of the sky — see the GPS speed accuracy guide for what affects reliability on a run.

Frequently asked questions

How is pace calculated?
Pace (minutes per kilometer or mile) is calculated directly from your current GPS speed — it's the same underlying measurement as the speed display, just expressed as time-per-distance instead of distance-per-time.
Why does my pace jump around while running?
Instantaneous GPS speed naturally varies slightly with your stride and with GPS signal noise, which shows up more in pace (a time value) than in speed. For judging overall effort, your average speed in the stats below is steadier than the live pace number.
Does it show my pace per mile or per kilometer?
Both, side by side, updated live — so you don't need to switch units mid-run.
