HUD Speedometer
SpeedCheck needs your device's location to measure speed. Your browser will ask for permission when you tap Start Tracking — your location is never stored or sent anywhere.
Do not interact with this device while driving. Have a passenger operate it, or mount it securely and glance only when safe to do so.
Using HUD mode
Start tracking below, then tap HUD Mode. The screen switches to a black background with very large, mirrored digits and your selected unit, designed to be propped against your windshield so the reflection appears right-side up in your line of sight. A single exit button in the corner (left unmirrored for usability) returns you to the full dashboard at any time, and your GPS tracking session continues uninterrupted — it isn't restarted when you switch modes.

Frequently asked questions
- Why is the HUD display mirrored?
- When a phone is laid flat on the dashboard facing up, its screen reflects off the windshield. A mirrored display reads correctly in that reflection — the same trick used by dedicated HUD devices and apps.
- Does HUD mode need a special phone mount?
- No special hardware is required, though a simple dashboard mount or even propping the phone against the windshield base works best for a clean reflection.
- Is it safe to interact with while driving?
- No — mount the device before you start driving and don't adjust settings while in motion. HUD mode is meant to be glanced at, not interacted with, while the vehicle is moving.
